Businesses based outside the city limits that wish to conduct a business, service, or contracting work within Rancho Mirage are required to obtain a Business License
A Rancho Mirage license is necessary in addition to any Business Licenses from the city where the home office is located.
The application process does not include any inspections and can normally be completed upon receipt of payment.
Applying for Business License
Business License Ordinance § N° 5.04.020 prohibits you from conducting business without a City of Rancho Mirage Business License.

Along with your Business License Tax Application, you must submit the following (if applicable):
- Applicable fee payable to “City of Rancho Mirage”
- Copy of current Contractor’s State License
- Copy of current Department of Consumer Affairs License
- Supplementary calculation sheet forms
Usually, once the Business License Office has received your payment, a Business License Certificate will be issued within two weeks. Please note: We cannot accept your Business License payment or application without copies of your State License or other forms if required.
*Effective January 1, 2018, an additional $4 State-mandated fee will be added to each Business License issued.
On October 11, 2017 Governor Brown signed into law AB-1379 which adds a state fee of $4 on any applicant for a local business license or similar instrument or permit, or renewal thereof. The purpose is to increase disability access and compliance with construction-related accessibility requirements and to develop educational resources for businesses in order to facilitate compliance with federal and state disability laws, as specified.
