Requirements for landscape businesses
As part of a valleywide ordinance to improve air quality and water conservation, prior to renewing or applying for a business license in Rancho Mirage, you are required to obtain (annually) two (2) Certificates of Completion issued by:
- Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) certifying successful completion of their FREE Overseeding Certification Course.
- Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) certifying successful completion of their FREE Water Conservation Certification Course.

The Code Compliance Division would like to remind residents that the use of noise producing motorized equipment by “for-hire” landscapers or gardeners such as lawnmowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, chain saws, etc. is prohibited on Saturdays and Sundays. It is allowed only on weekdays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Landscaping and gardening activities that do not require the use of motorized equipment are not covered by this time restriction.
