
Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Celebration

This summer marks the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest achievements of mankind. Join us on July 20th, fifty years to the day of when American Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin first walked on the Moon. Both the Library and Observatory will be filled with activities and experiences for the whole family to enjoy.

Take an Observatory tour, explore the moon in virtual reality, view video clips and documentaries about the Apollo program, enjoy moon-themed children’s activities, and much more. Then, at 1:00 p.m., in the Library’s Community Room, enjoy special effects and archival footage with our state-of-the-art audio/video system to transport you back to 1969, experiencing the moon landing with touchdown at 1:17 p.m. exactly fifty years after the first manned trip to the lunar surface.
This FREE event is open to the public, no registration is necessary. Hotdogs, nachos, salad, shaved ice, and drinks will be available for purchase. Join your fellow community members to celebrate this amazing achievement together!

- Kids Moon-themed Crafts: Paint your own moon, create a space wreath, make a customized glow-in-the-dark bracelet, build a soda straw rocket, and assemble a 2D spacecraft
