Cinema Under the Stars – CLOSE ENCOUNTERS of the THIRD KIND
April 20, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm PDT
In partnership with Desert Recreation District, the City presents the second annual Cinema Under the Stars at the Rancho Mirage Amphitheater. This year, we chose a space theme, playing off the success of the Rancho Mirage Observatory. This event is free to the public and moviegoers are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, food and beverage to enjoy cinema under the beautiful Rancho Mirage night skies!
Close Encounters of the Third Kind is a 1977 American science fiction film written and directed by Steven Spielberg starring Richard Dreyfuss, Melinda Dillon, Teri Garr, Bob Balaban, Cary Guffey, and François Truffaut. Close Encounters tells the story of Roy Neary (Dreyfuss), an everyday blue-collar worker in Indiana, whose life changes after an encounter with an unidentified flying object (UFO).
Parking is free, all shows are free and include popcorn and bottled water!
Gates open at 7:00 p.m.; Showtimes will begin at sunset (7:45 p.m.).
No smoking/vaping or pets are allowed in the Amphitheater.
