Message from Mayor Richard W. Kite
I am honored to begin my sixth term as Mayor for the great City of Rancho Mirage. I have had the incredible fortune of being a member of the Rancho Mirage City Council for 23 years; and I could not be prouder to represent a city unlike any other. Rancho Mirage enjoys a rich heritage, strong sense of community, and unmatched fiscal stability.
Many changes have occurred for the City Council since I last sat in the mayor’s seat. In November of 2021, we said goodbye to Councilmember Dana Hobart after nearly 20 years of service and in December of 2022, Mayor Charles Townsend, who served nine years on the council and Councilmember Iris Smotrich, who served 11 years on the council, made the decision to move on to the next chapters in their respective lives. I want to thank my fellow councilmembers for their dedication and support. It was my pleasure serving with them and wish them nothing but good health and happiness in their endeavors.
Beginning in December 2022, we welcome some new faces to the dais, Councilmember Lynn Mallotto and Meg Marker, who were both elected in the November 2022 election. Councilmember Steve Downs, who was appointed in December of 2021 to fill Dana’s spot, was reelected in November 2022 to a four-year term.
I am certain this new city council will continue to make decisions to improve our city and strengthen our community to protect and enhance the quality of life for our residents.
I look forward to serving once again as your Mayor and am so proud of our many accomplishments. I look forward to the many great things to come.
I welcome your ideas and suggestions. Please do not hesitate to reach out if I can be of assistance either by email at email@example.com, or by phone at (760) 324-4511.
