Municipal Elections

The five members of the City Council are elected by citizens of Rancho Mirage via the City’s General Municipal Elections. Beginning in 2022, City of Rancho Mirage General Municipal Elections will be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year. Council Members are elected to four-year terms (no term limits imposed), with voting Citywide and elections alternating every two years.  The Mayor is appointed every year on a rotational basis by the City Council.

2022 General Municipal Election – November 8, 2022

The City of Rancho Mirage will hold a General Municipal Election on November 8, 2022.

Vote-By-Mail Ballot Drop-Off Location:

  • Rancho Mirage City Hall (69-825 Highway 111)
    October 11 – November 7, 2022: During regular business hours.
    Election Day, November 8, 2022: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Vote Center Locations:

  • Rancho Mirage Library & Observatory (71-100 Highway 111)
    November 5 – November 7, 2022: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    Election Day, November 8, 2022: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • The River at Rancho Mirage (71-800 Highway 111, Suite A-103)
    November 5 – November 7, 2022: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    Election Day, November 8, 2022: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Offices & Terms to be Filled: 3 Council Seats (4-year terms each)

Qualifications for Office: Registered voters residing in Rancho Mirage city limits at the time nomination papers are issued.

Roster of Candidates for Rancho Mirage City Council:  Below is the final roster of candidates appearing on the ballot for Rancho Mirage City Council. The names appear in the order in which they will be placed on the ballot, based on the Secretary of State’s randomized alphabet:

Ballot Measures:

  • Measure C Ballot Question:  Shall the Charter be amended to provide that the council shall at its second regular meeting in November in non-election years and at the meeting when members are installed during election years, appoint members to serve as mayor and mayor pro tem for one year that affords each member with an equal opportunity to serve as mayor and mayor pro tem under such guidelines established by ordinance?
  • Measure E Ballot Question:  Shall the Charter be amended to provide that the council shall at its first regular meeting in December, or as soon thereafter in the event of delayed certification of election results, appoint members to serve as mayor and mayor pro tem for a one-year period that affords each member of the council with an equal opportunity to serve as mayor and mayor pro tem under such guidelines established by ordinance?
