Public safety is a top priority for the City. The City is dedicated to providing the resources necessary to keep residents feeling safe.
Automatic License Plate Readers (ALPR)
The City’s investment in public safety includes technologies that aid in crime prevention and detection. One such example is the Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system. This system features cameras that scan vehicle license plates and compare them to law enforcement databases to identify stolen or wanted vehicles, lost or stolen license plates, or vehicles associated with missing or wanted people. The ALPR technology is a valuable tool for law enforcement, and Rancho Mirage has invested in this equipment to aid in crime prevention and detection.
