Municipal Elections
The five members of the City Council are elected by citizens of Rancho Mirage via the City’s General Municipal Elections. City of Rancho Mirage General Municipal Elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year. Council Members are elected to four-year terms (no term limits imposed) with voting Citywide and elections alternating every two years.  The Mayor is appointed every year on a rotational basis by the City Council.  The next City of Rancho  Mirage General Municipal Election will be held on November 5, 2024.

2024 General Municipal Election - November 5, 2024


The City of Rancho Mirage will hold a General Municipal Election on November 5, 2024.

Offices & Terms to be Filled
 2 Council Seats (4-year terms)

Qualifications for Office
 Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and a registered voter residing in Rancho Mirage city limits at the time nomination papers are issued.

 Pre-Nomination Activities
 Prior to soliciting or receiving any contributions related to candidacy, a Candidate Intention Statement (FPPC Form 501) must be filed with the City Clerk. Depending on the amount of contributions anticipated to be received, a Statement of Organization (FPPC Form 410) may be required to be filed with the California Secretary of State. Please refer to the instructions on the FPPC Form 410 to determine if it is required.  FPPC  (Fair Political Practices Commission) forms are located here:  FPPC Forms

 Nomination Period
All candidates are required to make an appointment with the City Clerk to obtain and file nomination papers. Nomination papers may only be issued during the nomination period.

The nomination period for this election is Monday, July 15, 2024, through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024.  If an incumbent does not file for re-election by August 9, 2024, the nomination period extends to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, for persons other than incumbents.

 Campaign Contribution Limits
 The 2023-2024 campaign contribution limit per contributor, per election, is $5,500 (Assembly Bill 571).
