0700 hours – Search Warrant Service: Deputies from the Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells Special Enforcement Teams assisted SIB and the FBI with the service of a residential search warrant at the 40-300 block of Washington Street, Bermuda Dunes. The lengthy investigation was a culmination of numerous bank records search warrants which revealed the suspects, Ana Tabarez and Abraham Gonzalez-Soto, embezzled over $75,000 from Chase bank. Due to the circumstances, the investigation was assumed by the FBI with assistance from SIB. Both suspects were located at the residence as well evidentiary items to support the embezzlement. Martinez and Sergeant Morton, of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team, conducted a traffic stop at Bob Hope Dr. and Casino Dr. The driver, Jesus Perales, 40, of Indio, was arrested for being in possession of fentanyl tablets and powder fentanyl. 1245 hours – Possession of Stolen Vehicle / H&S Arrest: Deputy D. Nelson was dispatched to a theft at a business in the 34-200 block of Monterey Ave., Rancho Mirage. Upon arrival, the suspect left in a vehicle. Nelson and other deputies later located the vehicle, which the suspect ditched and fled on foot. The suspect, Callen Menzel, age 28 of La Quinta was located and placed under arrest. He was found to have stolen over $950 dollars worth of merchandise. The vehicle he was driving also came back stolen. He was booked at JBDC. File #S21104005

2124 hours – Spousal Battery Arrest: Deputy Sepulveda responded to a spousal battery in the 41-000 block of Bob Hope Dr., Rancho Mirage. At the location Deputy Sepulveda, Cpl. Questel and Sgt. Judes contacted the victim and her boyfriend. It was found through statements from the victim and security officer that the male suspect had assaulted the victim. He was arrested and Booked at JBDC. 1800 hours – Warrant Arrest: Sergeant Morton, of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team, observed a traffic violation at Bob Hope and Ramon and conducted a traffic stop at Ramon and Varner. Daniel Pacheco, age 37 of Desert Hot Springs, was arrested for an active felony vehicle theft warrant out of San Bernardino County. He was booked into JBDC. File #S211050054

2157 hours – Vehicle Pursuit/ D.U.I. / Felon in Possession of a Stolen Firearm: Sergeant Morton and Deputy K. Martinez, of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team, observed a Toyota Corolla at Ramon Road and Bob Hope Drive, displaying numerous driving actions consistent with D.U.I. They attempted to conduct a traffic stop at Varner Road and Ramon Road and the driver, later identified as Joshua Beltran, failed to yield and the juvenile passenger, threw a pistol out of the passenger’s window. A vehicle pursuit was initiated, and it continued through Rancho Mirage and then through Palm Desert, where it ended at Mountain View Road and Washington Street. All four occupants of the vehicle were detained without incident during a felony traffic stop. Beltran displayed numerous signs of intoxication and open beers were located inside the vehicle. Beltran refused Field Sobriety Tests. Deputy Kemper responded to Bob Hope Drive near Interstate 10 and recovered the loaded 1911 Remington Arms pistol which Macias threw from the vehicle. A PRCS flash hold was obtained for Beltran. The juvenile passenger was booked into Juvenile Hall on his outstanding felony warrant for possession of a firearm. Beltran will be charged with felonious evading, D.U.I., and a violation of PRCS. The juvenile will be charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property. One of the vehicles involved fled the scene and was subsequently located, along with the driver, at Hwy 111 and Country Club. 2219 hours – Driving Under the Influence Arrest: Deputy Saunders responded to a call of an intoxicated driver in a red Ford F150, at Frank Sinatra and Kavenish Drive, Rancho Mirage. Several deputies arrived and contacted the driver, David Christian, age 55 of Rancho Mirage. Christian was too intoxicated to attempt Field Sobriety Tests and blew on the EPAS. In the vehicle deputies located two empty bottles of alcohol. Christian was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was then booked at JBDC. File #S211160047.

Deputy Kelly identified the suspect the day of the theft and authored a GPS Search warrant on the suspect vehicle. Deputies located and arrested Jesus Perales, age 40 of Cathedral City. It was discovered that Perales pawned the stolen items in Indio. Perales admitted to the theft and was in possession of several additional items reported stolen. Perales was booked JBDC. 0000 hours – Burglary Arrest: Deputies responded to a residential “cat” burglary which just occurred at a residence in the 40 block of Via Las Flores. The incident matched numerous additional recent burglaries. Information gathered indicated it would be the same suspect and Deputy Hubbard subsequently located him driving in Palm Springs. A stop was conducted with the assistance of PSPD and the suspect was detained without incident. Members of the Palm Desert Business District Team responded and authored search warrants for the suspect’s vehicle and residence. Property was located linking him to several burglaries. Ted Hartwell, age 35 of Palm Springs, was booked into JBDC on several counts of burglary. File #S211190072
