1958 hours – Stolen Vehicle Arrest: Deputies received an ALPR hit on a stolen vehicle on Highway 111 and One Mirage Place in Rancho Mirage. A felony vehicle stop was conducted on Gerald Ford Drive and Artisan in Cathedral City. The driver, Abelino Candelario, age 19 of Mecca was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and was booked into JBDC. File #S202140039

0253 hours – Public Intoxication/Possession of Methamphetamine Arrest:  Deputies responded to the 32000 block of Bob Hope Drive for an “Armed” call for service.  They contacted and arrested, Roger Peralta, 36, of Los Angeles for Public Intoxication and Possession of Methamphetamine.  Peralta was transported and booked at JBDC.  File #S202190024

0207 hours – Public Intoxication Arrest:  Deputies responded to the 41000 block of Bob Hope Drive, in Rancho Mirage. They contacted and arrested, Berl Collins, 34 years old, of Compton for public intoxication.  Collins was transported and booked at JBDC.  File #S202200005

0402 hours – Weapon Arrest:  Deputies responded to 32200 block of Bob Hope Drive, in reference to a male subject armed with a firearm sitting in a vehicle. A high-risk stop was conducted.  They contacted and arrested, Margarito Martinez Jr., 26 from Indio for having a loaded firearm in his vehicle.  Martinez was cited and released.  File #S202200023

1438 hours – Deputy Involved Shooting:  Deputies responded to the 70800 block of Tamarisk Lane, Rancho Mirage, reference a male subject who had entered the backyard of a residence. The deputy contacted the suspect when the suspect stabbed the deputy several times. The deputy shot the suspect and was transported to DRMC. The suspect succumbed to his injuries. File #S202200056

1810 hours – Assist Other Department / Carjacking: Deputies were dispatched to Bob Hope Dr x Frank Sinatra Dr reference a 3-vehicle traffic collision. The reporting person stated the driver of a burgundy Kia had collided into two vehicles and attempted to carjack two additional vehicles at the location. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot and was subsequently detained by citizens. The investigation revealed the Kia had been stolen during a carjacking in Cathedral City. The suspect Victor Vasquez, 30 of Cathedral City, was positively identified by the victim. Cathedral City Police Department took custody of Vasquez and he was booked at JBDC. File #S202200061.

2028 hours – Armed Robbery: Deputies responded to an armed robbery in the 69800 block of State Highway 111.  The victim was approached by the suspect at the check-in area.  The suspect produced a firearm and demanded the money in the cash register.  The victim complied and the suspect took the cash. The suspect fled on foot behind businesses.  An area check was conducted by deputies and helicopter; however, the suspect was not located. The investigation is ongoing. File #S202200070

0940 Hours – Warrant/Drug Arrest – Members from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Burglary Suppression Unit conducted a follow up investigation within the 67000 block of Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage. Joseph Harvey, age 30 of Palm Desert, was arrested for an outstanding violation of parole warrant and was in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Harvey was transported and booked at JBDC. 2110 Hours – Domestic Violence Arrest – Deputies responded to the 32000 block of Bob Hope regarding a domestic violence. 1400 hours – Felon in Possession of Handgun/Ammo and Narcotics Arrest: The Burglary Suppression Unit was conducting a follow-up investigation in the 32000 block of Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, when they recognized Joey Limon, 33 years and Tiffany Goehner, 25 years, both from Cathedral City. Limon was wanted for questioning regarding a stolen vehicle investigation that occurred on 01/26/20.  Limon, who is a convicted felon was contacted and was found to be in possession of ammunition.  Limon’s vehicle was searched, and two handguns and narcotics were located.
