1028 hours – Spousal Abuse: Deputies responded to Date Palm and 30th Avenue regarding a domestic battery that occurred on Ramon Road and Rattler Road in Rancho Mirage.  Ana Maria Villalobos, 51 years of Cathedral City, was arrested for battering her husband.  Villalobos was booked into Indio Jail. 0641 hours – Resisting Arrest/Possession of Narcotics: Deputies responded to the parking lot of a business in the 34200 block of Monterey Avenue, Rancho Mirage, regarding a transient, David Shouse, age 40 of Rancho Mirage, who was found sleeping in front of the business. Shouse resisted arrest and a short foot pursuit ensued before being taking into custody. No deputies sustained any injuries, but Shouse sustained a minor laceration to his hand and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. 0934 hours – Murder / Suicide – Deputies responded to an armed call in the 71500 block of Hwy 111, Rancho Mirage.  Upon arrival they located two deceased persons in the entryway of the business.  The investigation revealed Walter Carter, 63 years, of Desert Hot Springs entered the business and shot a victim, before taking his own life.  The Central Homicide Unit (CHU) was notified and responded to the scene.  File #S200450021.

Nathaniel Canant, age 18 of Thousand Palms, was in possession of a pocketknife with a blade over 2.5 inches and a slingshot. Canant admitted to possessing the weapons for his protection. 2214 hours – Assault with a Deadly Weapon / Spousal Abuse: Rancho Mirage deputies responded to a report of a stabbing in the 34100 block of Rebecca Way #46 in Rancho Mirage. The investigation revealed that the victim was talking to a neighbor when the victim’s ex-husband arrived. The ex-husband was identified as Amando Ramirez, 32 of Cathedral City. Without any warning, Ramirez attacked the victim with a pocketknife. An additional victim got in the middle of the assault and sustained a cut to his left hand. The victim refused medical treatment on scene. Ramirez fled the scene prior to the deputy’s arrival and the investigation is ongoing. File #S200590083.
