0230 hours – Warrant Arrest: Deputy James was conducting a business check in the 32-200 block of Bob Hope Drive, when he noticed a white Honda with a California license plate that did not come back to a Honda. Deputy James contacted the driver, James Alford, age 50 of Desert Hot Springs. Deputy James found Alford had a felony warrant for possession of stolen property. 0849 hours – D.U.I. / Possession of Stolen Property / Narcotics Arrest: Deputies responded to the 32-200 block of Bob Hope Drive reference a male driver who was reportedly under the influence. When the driver left the parking lot, a traffic stop was conducted by Deputies Paull and Avila. The driver, Jose Martinez, age 45 of Irvine, was found to be under the influence. Additional items found in the vehicle included a CO2 Sig Sauer handgun, stolen property, drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine. Martinez was also on parole and a hold was placed. 1620 hours – D.U.I. / H&S Arrest: Deputies responded to the area of Highway 111 and Bob Hope, Rancho Mirage, reference a hit-and-run traffic collision. The hit and run investigation involved a blue convertible Ford Mustang. About 1623 hours, Deputy Martin responded to a roll-over traffic collision on Highway 111 near Via Florencia involving the same vehicle. The driver was transported to an area hospital out of precaution due to the nature of the accident. During the investigation, illicit narcotics were located inside the vehicle. 0515 hours – Possession of a Stolen Vehicle Arrest: Deputy Ploesch located a stolen motorcycle traveling north on Da Vall. A felony stop was conducted and Chad Hill, age 35 of Desert Hot Springs, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. He was booked into JBDC. File #S210480010

1500 hours – Burglary Arrest: Deputies from the Burglary Suppression Unit investigated several vehicle burglaries that occurred from 01/20/21 to 02/02/21 within the cities of Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells. With the assistance of the Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team, Scott Farris, age 49 of Indio, was contacted. Stolen property from the burglaries were recovered along with heroin, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Farris was arrested for burglary, identity theft, credit card fraud, and drug-related charges. He was booked into JBDC. 0216 hours – Driving Under the Influence Arrest: Deputy Kemper conducted an occupied vehicle check of a car parked on the sidewalk in the 72-000 block of Hwy 111. Walter Reyes, age 31 of Palm Desert, was arrested for DUI. He was booked into JBDC. File #S210490013

1735 hours – Possession of a Loaded Firearm with Fentanyl and Cocaine for Sales Arrest: Deputies from the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop at Ramon Road and Rattler Road. The driver, Michael Montez, initially failed to yield, and continued at low speeds until coming to a stop on Los Alamos south of Ramon Road. A felony stop was conducted, and Montez was detained. A search of Montez and the vehicle revealed a loaded, Glock 9MM “Ghost” handgun, which Montez had been concealing in his waistband. Montez was also in possession of U.S. currency, a pay-owe sheet, and numerous individual bags of cocaine and Fentanyl pills. CVNTF responded and authored a search warrant for Montez’s residence in the 31-700 block of Avenida Maravilla, Cathedral City. During the service of the search warrant, TFOs located cocaine, Fentanyl pills, Xanax, one Glock 9MM “Ghost” handgun, one Taurus revolver, four high capacity magazines, four 80% lowers, ammunition, an additional pay-owe sheet, digital scales, and baggies for packing narcotics. CVNTF seized the U.S. currency taken during the initial traffic stop pursuant to asset forfeiture. Montez was booked into JBDC for numerous weapons and possession of narcotics for sales violations. 1141 hours – Felony Warrant Arrest:  Deputy Earley was conducting an area check in the 32-200 block of Bob Hope Drive in the city of Rancho Mirage when he received an ALPR hit of a vehicle with a felony warrant status.  Deputy Earley contacted and detained the driver, Sylvia Mendez, age 34 of Palm Springs, who had a warrant for being an accessory out of Desert Hot Springs.  DHSPD detectives responded to the Palm Desert Station to interview Mendez regarding their active investigation. 1245 hours – Indecent Exposure Arrest: On 02/23/21, Deputy Martin responded to the 71-800 block of Highway 111, regarding an indecent exposure.  The suspect was gone prior to deputy’s arrival but was able to identify him using facial recognition based on the video and photos taken by the victim.  The suspect was identified as Justin Harris, age 35 of Indio.  Harris was later contacted and arrested during his check in with probation on 02/24/21.  He was booked into JBDC. 1624 hours – Driving Under the Influence / Pursuit: Sergeant Morton and Deputy Bugarin attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on a possible DUI driver at Bob Hope and Ramon. The driver appeared to be yielding at Bob Hope and Varner; however, he then sped off and ran a stale red light. Sergeant Morton initiated a pursuit based on the driver’s DUI driving actions. The pursuit continued through Thousand Palms for several minutes until the suspect collided into three parked vehicles at Datil and Monte Vista, where he fled on foot. The suspect was located and detained without incident. Angel Sevilla, age 34 of Coachella, was arrested for DUI, felony evading, and two active felony warrants. He was booked into JBDC. 2140 hours – Possession of a Stolen Vehicle / Pursuit: Sergeant Morton, of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team, observed a white Lincoln Navigator traveling westbound Ramon Road east of Da Vall Drive, which had been reported as stolen out of Cathedral City. Sergeant Morton attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the driver fled in the Lincoln southbound on Date Palm Rd from Ramon Rd. at a high rate of speed. A vehicle pursuit was initiated, and the driver continued for several minutes through Cathedral City, proceeding through stop signs at 60+ MPH. The driver eventually stopped near the 32-800 block of Rancho Vista Drive in Cathedral City. He quickly exited the vehicle through the driver’s door, then ran from the vehicle on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the driver was taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Springfield XD .45 handgun under the driver’s floormat. A records inquiry of the Springfield’s serial number revealed it had been stolen out of Cathedral City. Edgar Aguilar Mendoza, age 24 of Cathedral City, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, felon in possession of a firearm, and an active felony warrant for possession of stolen property. Deputy Kemper conducted a traffic stop at Highway 111 and Fred Waring Dr, Palm Desert.  Deputy Kemper contacted and arrested Gloria Cardoza, 44 years old of Cathedral City, for D.U.I. over .08%.  Cardoza was transported and booked at J.B.D.C. #S210580005.

2054 hours – Felony Warrant Arrest: Deputy Kelly and Deputy Stewart with the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement team conducted a pedestrian check in the 32-200 block of Bob Hope Drive in the north side of the parking lot. 2246 hours – Spousal Assault Arrest: Deputy Morales responded to a call of spousal assault in the 100 block of Tanforan, Rancho Mirage. There he contacted the victim and Jose Rios, age 45, of Rancho Mirage. He found that Rios assaulted his girlfriend. Rios was booked at JBDC. File #S210580046.

0130 hours – Possession of Controlled Substances / Felony Warrants Arrests:  Sergeant Morton and Lieutenant Willison, while working Extra Duty in the 32-200 block of Bob Hope Drive, conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Bob Hope Drive south of Ramon Road on a gold Nissan Altima bearing California license plates. They contacted Marissa Fontalvo, 34 of Cathedral City, and Blake Pricer, 30 of Cathedral City.  Both Pricer and Fontalvo were in possession of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin.  In addition, Pricer was arrested for being a Parolee-At-Large, possession of stolen property, grand theft, providing false information to a Peace Officer, and driving on a suspended license.  Fontalvo was arrested for being in possession of stolen property and driving on a suspended license.  Both Pricer and Fontalvo were booked into JBDC. 0410 hours – Felony Warrant Arrest: Sergeant Morton and Lieutenant Willison, while working extra duty in the 32-200 block of Bob Hope Drive, contacted Jillyan Burnside, 31 of Hemet, after receiving reports of Burnside creating a disturbance by screaming at a gaming machine.  A records check revealed an outstanding felony warrant for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.  Burnside was arrested and booked into JBDC for her outstanding warrant.  File #S210590010.
