1645 hours – Felony Warrant Arrest: Deputies were conducting follow-up from another case in the block of 69-900 Hwy 111, in the city of Rancho Mirage, when they contacted Juan Galvez, age 38 of Cathedral City. Galvez had a No-Bail local felony warrant for vehicle theft and was booked into JBDC. File #S202800043

1903 hours – Drug Paraphernalia / Violation of Probation Arrest:  Deputies with the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop at Hwy 111 and Sungate Way.  The driver of the vehicle was Juan Gonzalez, age 42 of Cathedral City.  Gonzalez was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).  The passenger, Victor Martinez, age 32 of Indio, was also on PRCS.  Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle. Flash holds were issued for both subjects by the Riverside County Probation Department.  Gonzalez and Martinez were booked into custody at JBDC.  File #S202800050

1941 hours – Felony Warrant Arrest: Deputies assigned to the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team conducted follow-up regarding a domestic violence incident which occurred in Rancho Mirage in 2017. Robert Bell, age 52 of Cathedral City, was located at the Travel Lodge in Palm Springs. Bell was arrested for his felony warrant from this particular case. He was booked into JBDC. File #S202810063

0227 hours – Burglary Arrest: Deputies were conducting routine patrol in the area of Bob Hope Drive and Highway 111 when the deputy recognized the vehicle of a known burglar. Prior to conducting a traffic stop the deputy observed a vehicle code violation, it was determined the driver had an active felony warrant for bringing a controlled substance into a jail facility. A felony stop was conducted, and the driver was detained without incident. A safe was located inside the vehicle, along with items from a local business, located at the 71-600 block of Hwy 111. Deputies checked the business and discovered it had recently been broken into and yet to be reported to law enforcement. It was determined the safe came from the business. Adrian Padilla, age 39 of Indio, was arrested for burglary and his outstanding warrant. He was booked into JBDC. Files #S20282005 and #S20282006

0749 hours – Fatal Traffic Collision: Deputies responded to a traffic collision on Bob Hope Drive north of Dinah Shore Drive. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a single-vehicle collision in which the vehicle left the roadway and ended up in the desert east of Bob Hope Drive. The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Video of the collision was obtained and processed in this investigation. The traffic supervisor was notified and responded with the Traffic Bureau. The County Coroner was advised and responded to take possession of the decedent. This remains an open and ongoing investigation and remains unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a contributing factor in this collision. File # S202840015

0055 hours – Public Intoxication Arrest:  Deputies responded to the 32-200 block of Bob Hope Drive.  Contacted and arrested was David Pierson, age 44 of Indio, for public intoxication.  Pierson was booked at JBDC.  File #S202870003

1502 hours – Vehicle Theft / Possession of Stolen Vehicle Arrest: Deputies assigned to the city of Rancho Mirage were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at the 68-900 block of Frank Sinatra Drive, Rancho Mirage. Deputies located the female half, who denied any involvement. Deputies then located the male half’s vehicle a short distance from the Ritz Carlton. The vehicle returned stolen out of the city of Temecula. RAID units conducted surveillance on the vehicle, and deputies apprehended the male as he was about to leave in the stolen vehicle. Jesus Navarro, 42 years of Cathedral City, admitted to stealing the vehicle in Temecula and he was on Post Release Community Supervision for Vehicle Theft; he was placed on a flash hold. 1405 hours – Assault on a Peace Officer / Parolee at Large Arrest: Deputies assigned the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team conducted a pedestrian check on a subject rifling through a vehicle in the 69-500 block of Highway 111. The subject, Joshua Nesseth, 30 years of Palm Springs, had provided numerous false names to the deputy. Another deputy responded to assist, and a physical altercation ensued while attempting to arrest the offender. It was determined Nesseth had a parolee at large warrant. Both deputies sustained minor injuries and Nesseth sustained moderate injuries as a result of the altercation. Nesseth was taken for a medical clearance and booked into JBDC. File #S202880060

The investigation lead to a business on El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert. A search warrant for the business was served with the assistance of Palm Desert SET, BDT, BSU and Indian Wells SET.  All the stolen items were located at the business, valuing approximately $11,000 and ultimately returned to the rightful owner.  James W.
