1130 hours – Vehicle Burglary/Vandalism Arrest: Deputy Kelly of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team conducted follow-up to a vehicle burglary which occurred on September 21, 2021. Deputy Kelly identified the suspect as Erik Nemec, age 33 of San Diego. Deputies coordinated with Nemec’s Parole Officer, who issued a felony warrant for his arrest. On October 6, 2021, Nemec was arrested for his PRCS warrant in the city of Coachella as well as for vehicle burglary and vandalism. File #S212640055

1043 hours – Criminal Threats / Brandishing Arrest: Deputy Nelson was flagged down by the victim and his 9-year-old daughter at Hwy 111 x Paxton Dr., reference a male who had just brandished a knife at them. 2106 hours – Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest: Deputy Velasquez responded to the 69-500 block of State Hwy 111, Rancho Mirage regarding a battery. 0312 hours – Warrant Arrest: Deputy Velasquez and Cpl. Questel responded to assist Riverside County Fire with a possible fire at Hwy 111 and One Mirage, Rancho Mirage. In the field across from the business located in the 69-500 block of Highway 111, they contacted and arrested Terri Sparto, 39 of Palm Desert. Sparto had a small campfire in the area, against the hills, which was doused by RCF. Sparto was booked at JBDC for warrants. File #S212840006.

1805 hours – Warrant Arrest: Deputy Puente ran a license plate through Sheriff dispatch that came back to a stolen vehicle. He attempted to stop the vehicle for a felony stop at Los Alamos and Ramon, Rancho Mirage. The driver, later identified as Tyler Watt, 34 of Palm Desert, ran on foot into the golf course west of the traffic stop and was later apprehended with the use of the Sheriff helicopter and K9 unit. Watt had a felony warrant and was booked at JBDC for his outstanding warrant. Charges of the possession of stolen vehicle will be filed out of custody. File #S212900034.

0931 hours – Possession of Controlled Substance Arrest: Deputy Bustillos responded to a business located in the 40-100 block of Monterey Avenue, Rancho Mirage, regarding a report of man down inside of a truck.  Deputy Bustillos contacted the individual identified as Cody McPherson, 32 of Palm Desert, who was passed out behind the wheel with the vehicle on.  McPherson displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a narcotic.  In plain view was a bag containing Heroin on the driver’s seat.  Also located in the vehicle was Methamphetamine, suspected Fentanyl, a taser and burglary tools.  McPherson was arrested for Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of a narcotic, Felon in Possession of a taser, Under the Influence, and Possession of burglary tools.  McPherson was booked into JBDC.  File #S212970012.

1645 hours – Brandishing Weapon Arrest: Deputies responded to a subject brandishing a hatchet or machete at security officers, in the 32-200 block of Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage. While responding to the location, the reporting party advised the suspect, identified as Joseph Collings, 28 of Palm Desert, had left in his vehicle and was driving northbound on Bob Hope Drive towards the I-10 Freeway. Deputies responded to the area and located Collings in front of a business in the 31-800 block of Bob Hope and Varner. When Collings saw the deputies, he initially was compliant and obeyed their commands. When deputies grabbed his hands to place him in handcuffs, Collings turned and pulled away from Deputies Paull and Botello. Collings was taken to the ground and the taser was deployed. After a short struggle on the ground, Collings was taken into custody by Deputies Paull, Botello, and K. Martinez. Collins was booked at JBDC. File #S212980023.

The gas station’s video surveillance captured the suspect’s vehicle, which was located parked at a local area business. 2241 hours – Battery on a Peace Officer Arrest: Deputy Hohman responded to the 39-000 block of Bob Hope Drive, regarding a patient who left against medical advice.
