0230 Hours–Probation Violation/Arrest Warrant Service– Deputy Nelson conducted a traffic stop on Palm View Road and Tamarisk Lane. He contacted the occupants, Angel Zaragoza, 34-year-old of Cathedral City, and Ernest Recio, 24-year-old of Cathedral City. Zaragoza was determined to be on probation. A search of the vehicle yielded a dirk/dagger, methamphetamine, and burglary tools. Recio was determined to have two active warrants. Zaragoza was arrested for being in violation of probation and Recio was arrested for his warrants. They were both booked into John Benoit Detention Center. File #S230340012/013

0439 hours–Robbery Arrest- Deputies responded to the 32200 block of Bob Hope Dr. reference a robbery involving a firearm. Deputies spoke with the victim who told them she was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect was identified as Martin Garcia. Officers from Cathedral City Police Department informed deputies, the suspects had committed a similar robbery in their jurisdiction earlier in the evening. Cathedral City Police Department located Garcia and the suspect vehicle in their city while our investigation was on-going.  Deputy Barker filed in-custody charges on Garcia for the robbery that occurred in our jurisdiction. File #S230360006.

0405 Hours–Burglary Arrest– Deputy Nelson observed a male that appeared to be burglarizing a vehicle near Tamarisk Ln. and Los Reyes Dr. in the city of Rancho Mirage. Deputy Nelson located the suspect vehicle and contacted Brian Hickman, 37-year-old of Palm Desert.  Deputy Stapleton contacted the vehicle’s owner who confirmed items were stolen from the vehicle. The stolen items were observed in plain view on the driver seat of the Hickman’s vehicle, and Hickman was arrested. An inventory search of the vehicle yielded burglary tools, methamphetamine, mushrooms, Adderall, and a large amount of suspected stolen property. Hickman was booked into John Benoit Detention Center. 0053 Hours–Reckless Driving, Child Endangerment, & Felon in Possession of a Firearm Arrest– Deputy Nelson witnessed a vehicle doing “donuts” in the intersection of Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope Drive. Deputy Nelson contacted the driver Jesus Sotero, 20-year-old of Cathedral City. Sotero was arrested for reckless driving and felony child endangerment. He was booked into John Benoit Detention Center. During the investigation, Deputy Creiglow contacted a juvenile occupant, 17-year-old resident of Palm Desert. The juvenile was a known gang member and was believed to be involved in a previous murder in Desert Hot Springs. Deputy Creiglow located a black, semi-automatic Glock handgun equipped with a weapon light and a green laser. Deputy Creiglow recognized the firearm from video footage provided to him by the Riverside County Sheriff Gang Task Force, as the same firearm possibly used in the murder. The juvenile was booked for felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked into Indio Juvenile Hall. File #S230400002

1119 hours – Stolen Vehicle, Identity Theft, and possession of narcotics Arrest – Members of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team located a stolen vehicle in the area of Dinah Shore Drive and Del Webb Way. The driver, Jason Jimenez, 42-year-old of Los Angeles, was arrested. During a search of the vehicle, members located evidence of identity theft. Members recovered $2000 in cash which was stolen from the victim by means of identity theft. 2057 hours- Public Intoxication Arrest- Deputy Nulud responded to the 32200 block of Bob Hope, Rancho Mirage regarding an intoxicated individual. Deputy Nulud arrested Jose Escamilla, 34-year-old of Indio, for Public Intoxication. Escamilla was booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S230440036

The reporting party stated someone was in the residence and was yelling. James Cox, 55-year-old of Palm Springs, was contacted. Under Miranda, Cox admitted to entering the residence from the rear slider door. Cox also showed symptoms of being under the influence. Cox was booked into John Benoit Detention Center. 0300 Hours–Warrant and Drug Paraphernalia Arrest – Deputy Granados conducted an occupied vehicle check within the 34200 block of Monterey Avenue. Contacted was Carmen Melgoza, 52-year-old of Palm Desert and Carlos Rivera, 38-years-old of Los Angeles. Rivera had numerous felony warrants for grand theft, resisting arrest and drug warrants. Melgoza was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both Melgoza and Rivera were arrested and transported to John Benoit Detention Center. File #S230480005

0914 Hours-Embezzled Vehicle/Possession of Stolen Vehicle Arrest- Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team located a stolen vehicle parked near the Motel 6 in Rancho Mirage. Members were informed that; Frank Armendariz was listed as the suspect of the embezzled vehicle that was reported as stolen from Carlsbad Police Department. Members were informed that Armendariz was staying in a hotel room in the city of Cathedral City. The Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team assisted and responded to the hotel. 1813 Hours – Drug and Probation Violation Arrest – Deputies responded to the 42500 block of Bob Hope Drive reference a male subject armed with a bat. Upon arrival, deputies contacted Noe Vasquez, 52-year-old of Palm Springs. A search of his person revealed a used methamphetamine pipe. The passenger, Nelson Aguilar, 27-year-old of Coachella, was arrested for false identification to a peace officer. Aguilar was cited and released on scene. The driver later identified as Terrance Goins, 42-year-old of Rancho Mirage, failed to stop. Goins, drove to his residence and parked his vehicle. Deputy Grandos had Goins exit the vehicle and he was detained. Deputy Granados conducted a pat down search of Goins and located a loaded firearm, a methamphetamine pipe, shotgun ammunition and gun parts. He arrived and contacted a juvenile, 14-year-old resident of Rancho Mirage. The investigation determined the juvenile damaged property and assaulted his father, which caused lacerations to his neck and chest. Sanchez was arrested and booked into Indio Juvenile Hall. Members contacted Alexi Carroll, 27-year-old, and Zachary Welch 36-year-old, both transients out of Cathedral City. During a search of the vehicle, members located an expandable baton, 2.5 grams of fentanyl, scales, and other items indicative of narcotics sales. Carroll was arrested for a felony warrant, providing false identification to a peace officer, possession of narcotics for sales and evading the court process.
