2115 hours-Driving Under the Influence Arrest- Deputy Vivas conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Bob Hope Drive and Dinah Shore Drive. The vehicle was unable to maintain its lane and was swerving all over the roadway. Deputy Vivas contacted the driver, Austin Hollowell, 36-year-old of Rancho Mirage. Deputy Vivas arrested Hollowell for Driving Under the Influence. Hollowell was transported and booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S240020057

0256 Hours-Temporary Restraining Order Violation- Deputies were dispatched to the 71000 block of Tangier Road, Rancho Mirage.  The reporting party requested to check on the well-being of his neighbor.  As deputies responded to the residence, they noticed an occupied vehicle was parked near the location.  Deputy Cosby approached the vehicle and contacted Hector Morales, 33-year-old of Palm Desert, who had a criminal protective order against him.  During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the victim residing at the residence was the protected party.  Morales was in violation of his protective order.  Morales was arrested and booked at John Benoit Detention Center.  File #S240050008.

1415 Hours–Possession of Drugs/Drug Paraphernalia Arrest–Deputies conducted a traffic stop at Dinah Shore Drive and Monterey Avenue, Rancho Mirage. Contacted and arrested was, Jessie Valenzuela 49-year-old of Thousand Palms for possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia. Valenzuela was booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S240050055.

1431 Hours–Making a False Police Report Arrest– Deputies responded to Morningside Drive and Johnar Boulevard, Rancho Mirage, reference a hit and run with injury. The reporting party stated he was hit by a vehicle and had suffered a major injury. James McKay, 58-year-old of Desert Hot Springs, was contacted regarding a vehicle that he reported had struck him and fled. Deputy Robertson was able to locate video surveillance that captured the incident and determined a vehicle never contacted McKay. McKay was arrested and booked at John Benoit Detention Center. 0405 Hours–Public Intoxication Arrest- Deputy Hernandez was dispatched to the 32200 block of Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, reference a disturbance.  Deputy Hernandez contacted Reynaldo Hernandez, 43-year-old of Lynwood, and Karissa Lee, 44-year-old of Lynwood. Upon arrival, Hernandez and Lee were located inside the business arguing with staff. 1250 Hours-Petty Theft/Drug Possession Arrest- Deputy Illera was dispatched to the 42200 block of Bob Hope Drive, reference a past petty theft from a business that occurred on January 8, 2024. Utilizing the Flock license plate reader system, the suspect vehicle, was located in the parking lot of a nearby business. The vehicle was occupied by Karen Avina 44-year-old of Cathedral City, and Michael Fitch, 38-year-old of Cathedral City. An Infield line up was conducted and Avina and Fitch were positively identified as the suspects. Avina was in possession of 47 M30 Pills and Fitch was in possession of .9 grams of Methamphetamine. Avina and Fitch were arrested and booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S240090021

0308 Hours–Arrest Warrant Service/Provide False Identification to Peace Officer/Narcotics Violation Arrest– Deputy Pouchoulen conducted a bike stop in the area of Frank Sinatra Drive and Monterey Avenue, Rancho Mirage. He contacted Hector Resendez, 40-year-old from Palm Desert, who initially provided a false name to deputies. After learning his true identity, Resendez was discovered to have an active felony warrant and was also on probation. During a search, Resendez was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Resendez was arrested and booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S240120005.

0445 Hours–Public Intoxication Arrest- Deputy Galvan responded to the 32200 block of Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, regarding an intoxicated subject. 0200 hours-Driving Under the Influence Checkpoint– The Palm Desert Station Traffic Team with assistance from Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team and patrol deputies, conducted a Driving Under the Influence Checkpoint at Highway 111 and Library Way in the city of Rancho Mirage from 1800 – 0200 hours.  1,318 vehicles were screened, 9 field sobriety tests were conducted, 27 people were cited for driving without a license, 2 people were cited for driving with a suspended license, 1 person was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant and Deputy Lee arrested Norma Alvarez, 56-year-old of Cathedral City, for Driving Under the Influence.  File #S24012034

2154 hours-Possession of Stolen Vehicle/Possession of Burglary Tools/Drug Possession Arrest- Deputies located a stolen vehicle in the area of Bob Hope Drive and Ramon Road, Rancho Mirage. Deputy Ford arrested Javier Escalera, 24-year-old of Inglewood for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of burglary tools. They also arrested passenger Jazmen Perla Garcia, 20-year-old of Inglewood for possession of methamphetamine. Escalera and Garcia were transported and booked at John Benoit Detention Center. The suspect, Indiana Blue Huze, 33-year-old of Rancho Mirage, had fled the scene and later returned. Deputy Ortiz contacted and arrested Huze for domestic violence. 1045 Hours–Petty Theft/Violation of Parole Arrest –Deputies responded to the 37800 block of Monterey Avenue, Rancho Mirage, reference a theft from a business. Contacted and arrested was Cody Larson, 32-year-old of Palm Desert, for stealing. This was also a violation of his parole. He was booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S240150006

1512 Hours–Arrest Warrant Service/Stolen Vehicle Arrest– Members of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team conducted follow-up investigation in the City of Indio, regarding a vehicle theft that occurred in the City of Rancho Mirage on January 13, 2024. The stolen truck was located by Indio Police Department on January 14, 2024. Members located the suspect vehicle that was used in the vehicle theft, parked at a residence in Indio. Members identified and arrested Jorge Rojas, 35-year-old of Indio. During the investigation, it was learned the suspect vehicle used in the vehicle theft was also cold-plated and vin-switched and was reported stolen out of Desert Hot Springs. Rojas was arrested and booked at John Benoit Detention Center for his outstanding felony warrant for vehicle theft. Additional charges will be filed out of custody. 1848 hours-Arrest Warrant Service Arrest-Deputies responded to the 34200 block of Monterey Avenue, Rancho Mirage, deputies were flagged down by staff advising three subjects had just stolen from the location. One of the female suspects, Marlene Gonzalez, 48-year-old of Palm Desert was located near the business. Deputies contacted and arrested Gonzalez for a drug paraphernalia warrant. Deputy Hesse recovered the stolen property from the suspect vehicle and will file theft charges out of custody. Gonzalez was transported and booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S240150028

1009 Hours – DUI Drugs/Hit & Run Traffic Collision/H&S Arrest– Deputy Bret Meservey responded to a hit and run traffic collision at the intersection of Dinah Shore Drive and Da Vall Drive. The driver, Camille Laurel, 32-year-old of Yucca Valley, and passenger, Maxwell Helm, 33-year-old of Yucca Valley, fled from the vehicle on foot after the collision. With the assistance of Cathedral City Police Department and Riverside County Sheriff’s Aviation unit, Laurel and Helm were located and detained.  Laurel showed signs and symptoms of impairment and was subsequently arrested. 0103 Hours–Credit Card Fraud/Possession of Drugs and Drug paraphernalia Arrest–Deputy Cazee responded to the 68900 block of Frank Sinatra Drive, regarding a report of credit card fraud. The investigation determined Hsinchun Liao, 25-year-old of Irvine, used stolen credit card information to purchase items from location. Deputy Peralta located Liao and detained him near the location. Deputies also located, Qian Yu, 25-year-old of Irvine, at the location. A search incident to arrest yielded additional methamphetamine on Liao and Yu, along with numerous manufactured credit cards and a credit card reader. Liao and Yu were arrested and booked into John Benoit Detention Center. File #S240270008

1113 Hours– Assault with Deadly Weapon Arrest- On January 12, 2024, patrol deputies investigated an assault with a deadly weapon in 71800 block of Highway 111, Rancho Mirage. The victim sustained major injuries. The Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team took over the investigation and were able to identify the suspects involved. With the assistance of California Highway Patrol and personnel from the Blythe Sheriff’s Station, Ramiro Diaz, 45-year-old of Coachella, was arrested. At 1252 hours, Sgt. Gelinas arrested additional suspect, Eddie Jimenez, age 45-year-old of Coachella, in the City of Cathedral City. The suspects were booked into John Benoit Detention Center. File #S240120066

1511 Hours-Felony Vandalism Arrest– Members of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team conducted follow-up at the10 block of King Edward Court, Rancho Mirage. Members were investigating multiple reports of vandalism to the front gate over the last 2 weeks. Members were able to identify the suspect as Robert Frost, 52-year-old of Rancho Mirage, who over the last few weeks had forced his truck through the gate of the complex. Frost caused approximately $10,000 in damages. Members located Frost in the area and arrested him for 4 counts of felony vandalism. Frost was booked at John Benoit Detention Center.
