1123 hours–Grand Theft/Committing Felony while out on Bail Arrest – Corporal Nelson responded to a report of a grand theft of barrel cacti in the city of Rancho Mirage. Members of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team identified the suspect as Steven Porter, 38-year-old of Cathedral City, as the suspect and owner of the suspect vehicle. Corporal Nelson located Porter driving the suspect vehicle. Corporal Nelson arrested Porter and located evidence associating Porter to the crime. Members of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team authored a search warrant for Porter’s residence and storage unit in Cathedral City. During the service of the search warrant, a barrel cactus, which appeared to have been ripped from the ground, was located in Porter’s backyard. Porter was booked at John Benoit Detention Center. 1129 hours–Vehicle Theft/Embezzlement Arrest– Members of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team were notified of a stolen vehicle traveling through the city of Rancho Mirage. Members later located the vehicle parked unoccupied. Members stopped the vehicle and detained the driver, Joanne Scheibe, 34-year-old of Palm Springs. Members arrested Scheibe for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and embezzlement. Scheibe was booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S231560019

1333 hours–Grand Theft/Violation of Probation Arrest– Members of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team investigated a grand theft that occurred on June 1, 2023. During the investigation, members identified Andrew Ochoa, 43-year-old of Coachella, as the suspect. On June 6, 2023, members located Ochoa, driving the suspect vehicle through the city of Palm Desert. Members arrested Ochoa for Grand Theft and Violation of Probation. Ochoa was booked at John Benoit Detention Center. #S231520030

2002 Hours– Arrest Warrant Service Arrest – Deputy Dorantes and Deputy Pinedo conducted a pedestrian check at the intersection of Rancho Las Palmas and San Jacinto Drive. Kellie Burg, 72-year-old of Las Vegas, Nevada, was contacted and arrested for 5 outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Burg was transported and booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S231580038.

2036 Hours–Driving Under the Influence Arrest – While Deputy Kemper was conducting a Driving Under the Influence investigation, Jennifer McMinn, 38-year-old of Spring Valley, walked up on scene extremely intoxicated. Due to her current state, she was unable to care for herself and was subsequently arrested for public intoxication and was transported and booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S231580043.

Arrested was, Guillermo Sandoval, after Sandoval’s vehicle collided with a perimeter fence.  Sandoval was booked into John Benoit Detention Center for Driving Under the Influence.  File #S231620004.

1900 Hours–Vehicle theft/Arrest Warrant Service Arret- Deputy Granados conducted a traffic stop of a reported stolen vehicle in the 32200 block of Bob Hope Dr., in the city of Rancho Mirage.  The occupants were identified as, Marbel Murillo-Rodriguez, 29-year-old of Los Angeles, and passenger, Saul Zaragoza, 38-year-old of Indio.  Murillo was charged with vehicle theft, receiving stolen vehicle, and false information to a peace officer and was booked at John Benoit Detention Center. Staff reported a vehicle driving on opposite lanes on Bob Hope Drive. Deputy Lee located and contacted Marco Antonio Ruiz-Colin, 40-year-old of Ontario. Deputy Lee arrested Ruiz-Colin for Driving Under the Influence. Ruiz-Colin was transported and booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S231640033

Upon arrival, the victim, Ana Cuamani stated her ex-boyfriend, Ruben Gonzalez-Jasso, 53-year-old of Cathedral City, arrived at her apartment intoxicated and unannounced. While at the apartment, Gonzalez assaulted Cuamani. Gonzalez was arrested for domestic battery and booked at John Benoit Detention Center. File #S231650061

Deputy Smith arrived and determined Magdelina Medina, 26-year-old of Cathedral City, located her ex-boyfriend, Ricardo Moreno, 24-year-old of Cathedral City at the location with a friend. Medina, vandalized Moreno’s truck, ripped his shirt and punched and scratched him multiple times. Search Warrant/Recovered property– On June 15, 2023, members of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team, along with Members of the Burglary Suppression Unit responded to a report of grand theft. During the preliminary investigation, it was determined that the items were taken from inside of a residence under construction in the city of Rancho Mirage, totaling over $30,000. The victim had a GPS tracker on his equipment, which was actively pinging in the city of Cathedral City. With the assistance of Sheriff’s Aviation, Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team, Palm Desert Business District Team, and Indian Wells Special Enforcement Team, approximately $5000 of the stolen commercial tools were recovered. The Burglary Suppression Unit conducted interviews and obtained suspect information regarding this case. This investigation is still ongoing. File #S231660006.

1009 Hours-Arrest Warrant Service/Resisting Arrest– Deputy Pinedo and Deputy Visscher responded for a call for service within the 100 block of Lincoln Downs, regarding a domestic violence incident. Deputies contacted Robert Barraza, 34-year-old of San Diego. During the investigation, it was revealed Barraza had three felony warrants. While deputies attempted to place him under arrest, he became uncooperative, and a use of force occurred. Barraza was placed under arrest and was booked at John Benoit Detention Center. Nicholas Berry, 27-year-old resident of Yuma County, was involved in a shooting where the victim ultimately died. 1330 Hours–Grand Theft Arrest– Members of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team conducted follow-up regarding a grand theft that occurred at the 32200 block of Bob Hope Dr. on May 24, 2023. The suspect was identified as Jeffrey William Bailey, 48-year-old of Thousand Palms. Bailey stole an iPhone from the business and sold it to an EcoATM Kiosk at a store in the city of Palm Desert. Additionally, on June 23, 2023, Bailey stole approximately $500 worth of alcohol from a business located at the 36100 block of Bob Hope Drive and was identified by employees at the location. Members located Bailey in the area of Cook Street and University Drive, in the city Palm Desert and took him into custody. Bailey was arrested and booked in at John Benoit Detention Center.
