1026 Hours–Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of an Assault Rifle Arrest– Members of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team conducted further investigation regarding a golf club theft that occurred on June 24, 2022. Members located the victim’s stolen property on OfferUp. Deputies identified the suspect to be John Rodriguez, 52-year-old of Moreno Valley. On March 2, 2023, members, with the assistance of the Indian Wells Special Enforcement Team, Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team, and the Burglary Suppression Unit, served a search warrant at Rodriguez’s residence in the city of Moreno Valley. During the search warrant, two stolen items of the victims were recovered, and numerous suspected stolen golf items were located. Deputy Pinedo contacted the driver, Thomas Henderson, 59-year-old of Thousand Palms. During a search, Deputy Pinedo located 5.0 grams of suspected methamphetamine on his person. Deputy Pinedo arrested Henderson for Possession of methamphetamine. Also arrested, the passenger, Jacquelin Newell, 29-year-old of Indio for her misdemeanor warrants. During their investigation, Members identified Christopher Vidaurri, 47-year-old of Palm Springs as the suspect. On March 30, 2023, security recognized Vidaurri, and his boyfriend, Dustin Nieder, 39-year-old Transient of Palm Springs, on the property. Vidaurri and Nieder assaulted security staff while being detained. Members responded and took custody of Vidaurri and Nieder. Vidaurri was arrested for identity theft and grand theft. Nieder was arrested for three outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Vidaurri and Nieder were booked at John Benoit Detention Center. Members will file out of custody for the battery and trespassing.
