HOW TO CONTACT BURRTEC?

WHEN WILL I GET MY NEW CARTS?

New carts will begin to be delivered in phases starting in November but, until then continue to use your current carts as usual. WHAT IF I’M OUT OF TOWN WHEN MY NEW CARTS ARE SET TO BE DELIVERED?

If your carts are normally stored in a location where Burrtec has access, they will automatically exchange your carts. If your current carts are stored in an inaccessible area, your home will be skipped. Upon your return, you will reach out to alert Burrtec.

WHAT WILL THE NEW CARTS LOOK LIKE?

With the coming collection of organic waste disposal, the State has also mandated collection carts follow the prescribed colors:

  • Trash – Grey
  • Recycle – Blue
  • Organic Waste –Green

The standard carts and sizing for Rancho Mirage is one 35 gallon Grey Trash cart, one 35 gallon Blue Recycling cart and one 35 gallon Green Organic Waste cart.

WHAT IF I NEED BIGGER OR MORE CARTS?

Until you receive your new carts you will be unable to preemptively add additional carts or request exchanges.

Upon receiving your new carts, determining your space for storage and evaluating your individual waste needs- if you need additional services you may call Burrtec to make a service request. The standard 35-gallon carts may be exchanged for the 65-gallon sized cart if needed, at no additional charge for trash (grey) and recycling (blue). For any additional carts ordered beyond the standard or for additional organic waste (green) there will be an additional service fee, please contact Burrtec for rates.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY CURRENT CARTS WHEN I GET MY NEW ONES?

Your current grey recycling cart may receive a new lid and/or updated labeling from Burrtec and become your trash cart. You will receive a new blue recycling cart and a new green organics waste cart.

You can opt to keep your current trash carts for personal use, or you may mark them for Burrtec to remove during the cart transition. If you opt to repurpose your current trash carts, they should be stored separately from your trash enclosure as they may no longer be used for curbside trash pickup.

WILL MY SCHEDULED PICK-UP DAYS CHANGE?

No, your current frequency and days of service will remain unchanged. Your trash will continue to be picked up twice a week, with your recycling being picked up concurrently on one of these days and the organic waste on the other.

Do not worry when you only see one truck picking up both waste streams as these trucks have a split body and are specifically designed to hold both.

WHAT WILL GO IN THE GREEN BIN?

Your green waste such as yard clippings and trimmings as well as your food preparation scraps and spoiled leftover food will go into your green organics cart.

You will bag your food waste to minimize mess and pests. The City of Rancho Mirage will provide biodegradable food waste bags with your initial cart delivery.
