Rancho Mirage is located in the heart of the Greater Palm Springs Valley. This vibrant and beautiful tourist destination is 110 miles east of Los Angeles, 110 miles northeast of San Diego, and 270 west of Phoenix.

Rancho Mirage is in the geographic center of the valley providing easy access to Interstate 10 and Highway 111. It is within 10 miles of the Palm Springs International Airport. The City is known for beautiful country clubs, golf courses, luxury automotive dealerships, spas, exquisite dining, state of the art medical facilities, year-round cultural offerings, and the brand-new Rancho Mirage Observatory.

Rancho Mirage is in close proximity to a wide variety of attractions such as the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens, Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals, and Joshua Tree National Park, to name a few. The City is also a significant participant in the annual Modernism Week and Desert X Art Exhibit.

The community is known for quality development, high household incomes, high home values, exceptionally low crime rates and as a year-round tourist destination. Tourism is abundant within the Palm Spring Valley, with over 13.6 million visitors spending over $5.5 billion in 2017 alone. Since 2012, room demand has outpaced room supply, indicating an opportunity for additional hotel development.

In 2016, Employment in Rancho Mirage was dominated by the Health and Medical service industry (35.4%) according to the California Employment Development Department. Retail sales (inflation adjusted) in the City of Rancho Mirage decreased by 31% between the years 2006-2010 reflecting the downturn in the economy but increased by 14.3% between 2011 and 2015.
