As a resident for over 30 years, Meg Marker's roots run deep in Rancho Mirage. She has successfully raised a family here, grown a prosperous business, and remained active in the community through her dedication to volunteerism and community projects. Her passion and desire to be a fresh voice for Rancho Mirage are genuine – this is her home.

Councilmember Marker studied broadcast journalism at Texas Christian University and the University of Colorado. Her background and her business, Marker Broadcasting, have played an integral role in broadcasting and producing events and concerts throughout the desert since 1996. For 26 years, Meg and her husband, Todd, have built Marker Broadcasting into the largest independent chain of radio stations in the Coachella Valley. Their flourishing company helps businesses thrive, generates and promotes events throughout the desert, and serves the valley's half a million residents. In the event of an emergency, Meg's stations provide the Emergency Alert System for the valley's residents.

She shows her appreciation and love for her community by continuously involving herself and putting forth the time so that all can benefit from her efforts. Through the annual BIG 106 Country Cares for Kids Radiothon, Marker Broadcasting has raised as much as $2 million for Variety - the Children’s Charity, as well as donated millions in radio airtime to promote numerous local nonprofits over the years. As Head of Philanthropy and Director of Special Projects, Meg has provided help and guidance for these local charities and is passionate about giving back.

Through the years, Meg has found herself incorporating volunteerism wherever the opportunity arises, ranging from her professional career to finding ways to involve her family and friends as well. Some of her past and present board memberships include The Bighorn Institute, The American Red Cross, and the Coachella Valley Radio Broadcasters Association. Additionally, she was a founding member of Eisenhower Health Circle of Stars Women in Charity, a founding member of the Junior League of Palm Springs, and an ambassador/volunteer for Variety - the Children’s Charity. She was a participant in the National Charity League, which encourages mothers and their daughters to embrace philanthropy and leadership, and an ambassador for the National Junior Tennis League with her son, creating opportunities for academic enrichment, life skills, and tennis for the youth.

Meg and Todd have been honored to receive a variety of awards and recognitions for their work, including a 2020 Congressional Award for Charitable Contributions to the Coachella Valley from Congressman Raul Ruiz. They also received a 2020 Community Service Award from all desert cities mayors, designating November as Child Awareness Month in the desert.

Meg loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking in our beautiful desert mountains, pickleball, running, golf, music, photography, writing, and travel.
